How private is Incognito mode?

Incognito mode is Google Chrome’s name for private browsing. 

Popular web browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge each have a private browsing mode.

What is private browsing?

As you use a web browser to visit various websites, typically the browser keeps a record about you and your activity. 

This record can include your IP address, location, browsing history (list of websites you have visited), and a number of cookies and other trackers that websites send to your browser. 

Incognito or private browsing mode enables you to browse the web without having much of this information saved where you might look it up, like in your browsing history, but does it keep everything private?
